Johan, BCIT has a centralized IT Services department. The Solutions Council is used to address all IT Services requests for technology solutions to community service requests. All service requests flow through our Service Desk, get reviewed by Business Analysts, have a completed questionnaire and then get reviewed by the Solutions Council.

Change Management is done by our Change Advisory Board (CAB) implemented based on ITIL best practices. Our modification was to add approval roles for IT Security and Enterprise Architecture in the CAB Request for Change (RFC) review process.

Please let me know if I answered your questions. Thanks for reading my blog, Leo

Is this part of a larger change in the IT organization (a first step perhaps) or is it the solution to an "isolated" problem?

Also, do you do change management in the Solutions Council or is that handled separately somehow? In my experience the architectural viewpoint is sometimes "forgotten" when it comes to change management.
